Shawn Long, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Long joined MLMC in January 2015 as our Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Long is a board certified family physician, treating patients of all ages. He is a member of the AAFP. Dr. Long grew up in Weirton, WV. He received a Bachelors of Arts in Biology in 1996 and his M.D. in 2000, both from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. Both his internship and residency were completed at the West Virginia University Department of Family Medicine. He was a faculty member at the WVU Department of Family Medicine in 2003 before taking a position with United Physicians Care at a state-designated Rural Health Clinic in Grafton, WV, where he over saw the development and growth of an afterhours clinic as well as provided medical care to the community as a partner of the general family practice at Pinewood Medical Center. In 2011 he rejoined West Virginia University Hospitals as a provider at Cheat Lake Family Medicine as well as the WVUH Wound Management and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center where he served as medical director until his decision to join MLMC. He is married to Mary Ann Long, who is also a board certified family physician. They currently reside in Morgantown, WV.
Sarah Call, MD
Dr. Call joined MLMC in June of 2014. Dr. Call is a board certified family physician, seeing patients of all ages. She is a member of the AAFP. Dr. Call was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. After high school she attended Boston College, receiving a Bachelors of Arts in History while she followed the pre-med track. She eceived her M.D. from Loyola University Chicago-Stritch School of Medicine in 2007 and graduated with honors. While in medical school she had several volunteering opportunities, including helping run a free medical clinic in the west side of Chicago and setting up a temporary medical clinic in the Dominican Republic for Haitian refugees. She completed her residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. In her final year of residency she served as Chief Resident and was part of the hospital’s ethics committee. She then joined a rural family medicine practice in central Massachusetts,
while her husband completed veterinary school. She and her husband are excited to have relocated to Garrett County with their two sons and young daughter. Her husband is a veterinarian at Casselman Veterinary Services.
B. Heather Templeton, MD
Dr. Templeton joined MLMC in October 2014. Dr. Templeton is a board certified family physician, seeing patients of all ages. Dr. Templeton was born in New Orleans, Louisiana but moved to the Cincinnati, Ohio area as a young girl. She attended undergraduate college in Bowling Green, Ohio. On college breaks she would work as a nurse aide at a nursing home. She graduated medical school from the Medical University of Ohio at Toledo in 2007. She also received a graduate certificate in Pathology during her medical education. During her training, Dr. Templeton participated in humanitarian mission trips to Jamaica and Haiti, as well as a medical mission to Guatemala City. Due to her husband’s wanderlust and love for mountains, Dr. Templeton moved to Anchorage for residency training at the Alaska Family Medicine Residency. After residency, she worked part-time in rural Bethel, Alaska for 6 months, flying to the “bush” every other week. She then worked for four years in Anchorage, providing primary care to Alaska Natives and American Indians. Dr. Templeton and her husband started learning martial arts together after her residency. They are now both second degree black belts in taekwondo. The Templeton family (Dr. Templeton, her husband, James, their son, Sebastian, Memphis the cat, and Annie, their Alaskan husky) is excited to have moved to Mountain Lake Park.
Dr. Daniel Buckingham joined MLMC in October of 2016. He is board certified by the ABFM and is a member of the AAFP. Being raised in a military family, he grew up in many different states. After attending high school in Annapolis, MD, he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Biology and Religion from Grove City College in Grove City, PA. An interest in international health and medicine took him to Israel for medical school. While there he received a strong foundation in population health and cross-cultural medicine. In 2002, he earned his M.D. from Ben Gurion University in Beersheva, Israel. Upon returning to the US, he completed his residency in family medicine at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in northern Kentucky. After serving as the
Chief Resident, he did an additional year of fellowship training in surgical obstetrics and women’s health care at St. Elizabeth. After serving as a faculty member for the family practice residency at St. Elizabeth, he came to Garrett County. In private practice for ten years, he has delivered family medicine and obstetric care at Garrett Regional Medical Center. He served in numerous leadership roles while at the hospital. He and his wife Mandy, along with their nine children, are happy to call this area home.
Linda S. Bonnette, CRNP
Linda joined Mountain Laurel in November, 2013 as a Family Nurse Practitioner, certified by the American College of Nurse Practitioners and licensed by the State of Maryland. Linda was raised in Preston County, West Virginia and earned her diploma in Nursing in 1976 from the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in Wheeling, WV. She continued her education, earning her Bachelors of Science (summa cum laude) and Masters of Science degrees in Nursing at West Virginia University. Linda has served the residents of Garrett County and surrounding areas for over 35 years. She began her career as a staff nurse at Garrett County Memorial Hospital and worked as a registered nurse, nursing supervisor, clinical instructor, and family nurse practitioner at area hospitals and family practices. During her time as Cardiac Rehabilitation Coordinator at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Linda developed and instructed community education programs on Smart Heart Active Risk Prevention as well as additional inpatient and outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation programs. Linda lives near Oakland with her husband and their dogs. She has strong ties to the Garrett County community and is happy to be continuing her care and health education services.
Barbara Monn MS, PA-C
Barbara joined Mountain Laurel in 2008. Barbara is board certified nationally and by the State of Maryland as a Physician Assistant. She is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants.Barbara was raised in Garrett County, graduating from Southern High School in 1976, one of the top ten students. Many will remember her as a member of Southern Rescue Squad for several years prior to attending Alderson Broaddus College in Phillipi, WV. In 1980 she received her Bachelors of Medical Science and in 2007 she completed her Masters of Science at Alderson Broaddus College.Barbara’s career started out in Neurosurgery in Charleston, WV. She was then recruited by our local surgeon Dr. Joseph Alvarez and joined their surgical practice. As their practice grew she expanded to work with Dr. Charles Fedde, Dr. Jason Campbell, Dr. Kenneth Rock, and Dr. John Porcaro. After 9 years in general surgery she had a son, and switched to Pediatrics with the Children’s Medical Group in Cumberland, MD. Striving for more experience and knowledge, she went to Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Health South in Morgantown, WV, where her focus was Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. After 4 years, Dr. Margaret Kaiser asked that Barbara join her practice in Internal Medicine. Fourteen years later, Barbara joined the Mountain Laurel Medical Center family. Barbara is nationally certified in Primary Care with prior national certification in Surgery. She feels the varied fields that she has practiced in, along with a strong educational background from Alderson Broaddus, provides her with a good basis to handle the needs of the patients here at Mountain Laurel Medical Center. Barbara lives near Oakland with her husband Kevan. She has strong family ties to Garrett County. Barbara has been part of the team of experienced and talented providers who give care to persons of all ages, to those insured and uninsured.
Lori A. Gregory, CRNP
Lori joined Mountain Laurel in August 2016. Lori is board certified nationally by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner and licensed by the state of Maryland. She is certified to provide care for those of all ages and is looking forward to promoting the health and wellness of the Garrett County community in both the Oakland and Grantsville offices. She is a Garrett County native and a graduate of Southern High School. Lori received her Associate of Science in Nursing in 1998 fromAllegany College of Maryland, Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Frostburg State University in 2012, and Masters of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner track, from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2016. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland (NPAM), and the Western Maryland AHEC Nurse Practitioner’s Caucus. Lori spent over 18 years working as a staff nurse and then as a patient care coordinator of long and short term care and rehabilitation services at Dennett Road Manor. Her experience includes managing treatment needs of those with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, surgical wounds and ulcerations, cardiovascular disease, and complications from diabetes mellitus. Graduate clinical focus included prenatal care, pediatrics, women’s health issues, internal medicine, chronic disease prevention, and health promotion of all ages. She is an avid long distance hiker and enjoys hiking the Appalachian Trail with her husband, Jay. They built their home in Oakland on her father’s farm where they raised their three sons. They enjoy spending time with their two grandchildren and four dog-children. Lori is proud to be part of a team of experienced and talented providers who give care to persons of all ages, insured and uninsured.
Janelle Porter, PA-C
Janelle joined Mountain Laurel in November 2014. Janelle is board certified nationally and by the state of Maryland as a Physician Assistant and is a
member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Janelle was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is an avid Steelers, Penguins, and
Pirates fan. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania Honors College where she studied Nutrition and minored in Biochemistry and Psychology. She
worked as a Nursing Assistant in Pittsburgh before attending PA school. She received her Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012. After her training Janelle relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where she started her career working at an inner city family practice office that served many refugee patients from all over the world. She traveled to Ensenada and Mexico during that time on a Medical Mission trip with a team sponsored by the Mayo Clinic. Missing the green hills and her family, Janelle decided to come back to the Eastern part of the country to continue practicing family medicine with Mountain Laurel Medical Center. Janelle is excited to be living in Garrett County and to serve the community in Grantsville. Janelle is passionate about primary care and is excited to be a part of a talented team of experienced providers who gives care to persons of all ages, both insured and uninsured.
Margaret A. Kaiser, MD
Dr. Kaiser serves as a staff physician at Mountain Laurel Medical Center responsible for all in-patient admissions at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Dr. Kaiser is a board certified internal medicine physician. She has over 30 years of physician experience in the healthcare field, including in hospital systems, private practice and a community health center. Dr. Kaiser received a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Santa Clara University, graduating Magna cum Laude in 1974. She went on to get a certification in Medical Terminology and completed medical school in 1979, at the Oregon Health Sciences Center, Portland, OR. Dr. Kaiser is Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and National Board of Medical Examiners. She currently holds a license from the Board of Physicians in the states of Maryland and West Virginia. Dr. Kaiser previously served as the Chief of Emergency Services at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Medical Director of Hospice of Garrett County, and Medical Director Cortland Acres Nursing Home, and Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. She has experience with Internal Medicine,
Geriatrics, Diabetes Management, Palliative Medicine, and Sub-Acute care.
Jessica Nice, LCSW-C
Jessica joined Mountain Laurel in December 2014 as a Behavioral Health Consultant. She is a Licensed Clinical Social worker in Maryland. Jessica attended West Virginia University where she received a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work in 2005. During graduate school Jessica worked for Valley Healthcare, providing supportive housing services to consumers with mental illness in order to enhance their ability to live independently. In 2007, she received her Masters of Social Word degree from West Virginia University, specializing in direct practice mental health. Upon graduation, Jessica was hired by Maryland’s Department of Corrections, where she provided clinical, therapeutic, and forensic social work services in a criminal justice environment. Jessica provided individual and group counseling to inmates who needed rehabilitative intervention due to a mix of behavioral, personality, and mental health factors. Jessica was born and raised in Terra Alta, West Virginia. She continues to live in the area with her husband and son.
Sabrina Tasker, MSW, LCSW-C, CTT, joined MLMC in February 2016 as Behavioral Health Consultant. Sabrina is a licensed and certified clinical Social Worker in the state of Maryland. Sabrina has been a member of the Allegheny/Garrett Social Work Caucus since 2004 and was named Social Worker of the year in 2011. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2003 and her Masters of Social Work in 2005, both from West Virginia University. In 2017 , she became certified as a Trauma Therapist. Sabrina started her career as a Family Services/ Child Protective Service intern at Garrett County Department of Social Services. In 2005, she took the role as an outpatient/ in school therapist at The Mental Health Center in Oakland Maryland. During that time, she also served as an Adjunct Faculty member for West Virginia University Department of Social Work, teaching Human Diversity. In 2007, she was hired at Garrett County Department of Social Services as an in home Family Services Social Worker. In 2012, she became the Clinical Social Worker at the Federal Correctional Complex in Hazelton WV where she developed the Social work program from the ground up; focusing on families and inmate reentry needs. She looks forward to providing care to all patients regardless of their insurances status. Sabrina enjoys children and holistic therapies. Sabrina resides in Preston County with her husband Jason and their three children.
