Knowing how to manage your diabetes can be very challenging.

At times it could all feel very overwhelming.  With the help of a diabetes educator, you can learn ways to make managing your diabetes easier.

Diabetes educators work with you to help develop a plan to help you stay healthy, and give you the tools and ongoing support to make that plan a part of your everyday life.

Research has shown time and time again that people who manage their diabetes can live full and active lives. Learning to control your diabetes will help to ensure it does not control you.

Studies show that people who participate in diabetes education do better all around. They have:

  • More knowledge about diabetes
  • Better self-care behaviors (such as healthy eating and checking blood sugars)
  • Better blood sugar control
  • An easier time losing weight
  • Improved quality of life
  • Fewer trips to the emergency room and hospital
  • Lower medical bills

The bottom line is, if you have pre-diabetes or diabetes, making changes in the way you live really matters.
