Mountain Laurel Medical Center (MLMC) is pleased to welcome two new pediatric clinicians to its care team. In December 2025, Jacquelyn Bauer, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, joined the Oakland practice, and Emma Reed, Pediatric Physician Assistant, joined the Westernport practice.
Jacquelyn Bauer is dual board-certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the National Certification Corporation (NCC). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia Wesleyan College, her Master of Science in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the West Virginia University Graduate School of Nursing, and an additional Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certificate from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Jacquelyn brings more than 38 years of experience as a nurse practitioner, with a clinical background that includes pediatric primary care and urgent care, neonatal intensive care units, and newborn nursery settings.
Emma Reed is nationally board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Science from the University of Maryland in 2018, followed by a Master of Arts in Molecular Medicine from Liberty University in 2020. She completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Frostburg State University in 2023.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) who specialize in pediatrics are uniquely trained to meet the healthcare needs of children from infancy through adolescence. PNPs complete graduate-level education focused exclusively on pediatric care, while pediatric PAs receive comprehensive PA training supplemented by specialized pediatric clinical experience. Both roles emphasize pediatric growth and development, age-specific conditions, behavioral and developmental concerns, and safe, effective pediatric medication management. Pediatric PNPs and PAs work exclusively with children, offering a high level of expertise in both routine and complex pediatric care. This specialized focus ensures children receive care tailored to their unique needs at every stage of development.
Jacquelyn Bauer’s additional certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner further enhances MLMC’s pediatric services. Her expertise allows her to care for high-risk, premature, and critically ill infants following hospital discharge, effectively bridging the gap between neonatal intensive care and outpatient pediatric services.
MLMC’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sarah Call said, “We are thrilled to welcome Jacquelyn Bauer, PNP and Emma Reed, PA, our new pediatric clinicians, to Mountain Laurel. Their expertise and compassion will expand access to high-quality care and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.”
Both clinicians care for patients from infancy through 21 years of age and are currently accepting new patients.
