On Friday, May 10, at 10:00 AM, Mountain Laurel Medical Center hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of their Oakland expansion. Charles Wilt, Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Laurel, led the event by expressing his appreciation for all those involved in realizing their vision of expanding their healthcare services.

Sandra Moore, Mountain Laurel’s Chief Operating Officer, was the lead project manager, partnering with Gosnell Builders to create the functional, yet beautiful addition.

This expansion boasts 4,020 square feet of additions, including a first floor of five new exam rooms, three bathrooms, a full-service lab, and a complete nurses’ and providers’ station. The second floor contains two extra bathrooms and a state-of-the-art conference room where Mountain Laurel plans to hold even more community health education classes and/or seminars.

The goal of the expansion is to provide complete comprehensive primary care to the all people of the Garrett County and surrounding areas, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. Mountain Laurel’s ultimate desire is to create a healthier community, which is why they offer more than just primary care. In addition to psychiatric services, Mountain Laurel provides special classes for Diabetes management, insurance counseling, and provides nurse care coordination to improve a patient’s navigation through their specific healthcare needs.

This new expansion is yet another step towards that goal.
